Founded in 2022, What Girls Know Best was created to support small businesses in their social media marketing by offering strategic guidance and content that feels both elevated and approachable. Since then, we’ve partnered with over 50 small brands—helping them grow their presence, tell their stories, and connect more meaningfully with their communities.
In 2024, we expanded our services to include wedding and event content creation, and have since captured dozens of special moments for couples, families, and party hosts alike. Whether we’re developing a brand voice or filming your best day ever, we believe in storytelling that is thoughtfully captured and authentically shared.

Hi there! I’m Kathryn Brannock — born and raised right here in North Carolina. My love for social media started my freshman year of college when I joined a business competition on a whim. I developed a social media campaign for an imaginary venue… and ended up winning first place in the nation. That moment changed everything. I realized storytelling through social media wasn’t just something I enjoyed — it was something I was pretty good at.
From there, I leaned into every opportunity to grow — studying Communication Studies with a Business Minor at UNCW, managing social media for Louisburg College, and supporting local boutiques. Along the way, I met so many hardworking small business owners who were juggling it all and just needed someone in their corner. That’s when What Girls Know Best was born, named after a childhood “business” my cousin and I dreamed up, and rooted in the idea that women supporting women matters.
I’ve worn many hats — admissions counselor, teacher, corporate social media specialist — but every twist in my path led me back here: building a career that lets me combine creativity, community, and storytelling every single day. Today, WGKB proudly supports businesses of all sizes and captures life’s most meaningful celebrations including weddings, something I fell in love with while planning my own.
I’m so grateful you’re here. I can’t wait to help you share your story!
The name What Girls Know Best actually started as a childhood memory. When I was about 8 years old, my cousin and I ran a very short-lived “business” selling handmade jewelry and we proudly named it What Girls Know Best. Years later, when I was dreaming up the name for my social media business, that memory popped into my head and just felt right. It’s playful, nostalgic, and a sweet reminder that girls really do know a thing or two—especially when it comes to building something meaningful.
